I was looking on the Rares site for a new front handbrake cable and have noted that there is one for a manual and one for an automatic
Can anyone tell me what the difference is, if it is length what are the lengths.
The one I have in the Ute is an old one and I would like to check its length before replacing if I have too.
Regards
Neil

Yes Neil,
On the autos the handbrake cross member is deleted and the pivot mount is spot welded direct to the inner side body member. ImageYou can see from the photo above that a slightly longer front cable and probably a shorter rear cable as well are required.

Image ImagePhoto is an after market cable I bought of gumtree recently $15 delivered.
Here is an original. I assume this is an auto as it is 135mm longer. Image
I know I’ve got a good rigi manual one here somewhere but can’t locate it atm.
Retro Spares (Autocables) in Eltham Vic will make up cables to suit your specific application as you probably know.
In your application I assume you don’t have the dose rails and want to mount either on the number one body member or on the gearbox cross member. I’ve done the latter using standard manual front cable and extending the pivot position forward on a strong mount. That crossmember is hanging around here somewhere too. God knows where, potty sere not on speaking terms lol.
Time for some more hot cross buns, which are actually just a vehicle for much butter, yeah!

Very important to get right this critical bit of safety equipment. You need to be able to do hand brakies.
