hey team,

the one thing, (at this very second) i'm having trouble with is finding a "THING" that tells me what a gear i'm in... thething that usually sits on the steering column...

also a glovebox that can lock...

The "Thing" is the Selector Escutcheon and Bezel. Pretty sure I have one I would be willing to sell.

No it won't suit the tri-matic.
Yes, Frank should be at the All Holden Day
The Radio is a HOLDEN Manual Tune with incorrect knobs. (One of only a few faults with Nathan's EK)

is there another option for a gear selector that still looks nostalgic... as i have the rest it just not the glass/ plastic bit with the gears on it...

are those radios hard to find... what would one be worth...

Matty, Try a &*#@ xm fordamatic gear esctrution(funny word that) We used one on a fargo running a 265 hemi and auto. The gears indicator shows the gears in the right formation except that there are two low gears. otherwise find the hydro one and buff out the numbers and etch in the gear numbers you want, Then you go all trippy and use Kustom font and make it your own, Send some pics when you work it out, I'm sure plenty of others would be interested in what you end up with.

Matty you can do the dash yourself if you don't want to ship it down and back...

I did my own and 2 others, they are easy to do. Good winter job as can be done at the kitchen table. Unless ofcourse you're opting for all the different lighting he offers.

They're easy enough to pull apart. Obviously pull it out of the car, making sure to take note of where every wire and globe go. Then simply unscrew all the gauges from the dash panel.

Now the fun begins ( I didn't take pics when I did this and I don't have a spare dash to show you), you must carefully bend the flattened sections of the chrome ring around the gauge up so it allows the plastic lense and insides to be removed. You need to be careful with the speedo when you pull it apart so as not to damage the spring.

Once you have the black rings out you can spray them whatever colour you want and then carefully hand paint the speedo unit itself (again pics would make easier but its the bit with all the lines on it).

As for the numbers they are all 3d in the lense itself. To remove the paint use oven cleaner (and wear gloves otherwise you take off your fingerprints) once done rinse and dry. Then using model paint (I use Tamiya as its water based and easy to work with inside the house) and a fine brush fill the numbers with paint and wipe off the excess paint from the lense. Voila! Custom dash..

I only have pics off mine, but I have done silver face/black numbers and white face/black numbers...

nice dash mate, ive been working on my own lately, haven't got very far though, thanks for the hint about how to get the paint out of the numbers engravings, wouldn't have thought of it myself. once mines all painted ill do all the LED lighting myself, im no electrician but you'd be surprised what the net will teach you. its basically just wiring, leds and resistors. you work out what resistor you need by using a resistor calculator, theres lots on the net just Google it

well, that looks pretty darn good... i love the little pic of the lady i would love to customise my dash with a pic as well is she a sticker & what is it stuck on to...
