Picked up a 138 grey today, drove 550km each way to pick it up, what do you do straight after getting home from a 1100km trip? Strip the motor down of course, found a few undesired things in the process, it hey, what are projects without challenges, found 1 bent pushrod, and a lot of milky sludge in the sump and one bore, but looks like a strong base for a rebuild none the less.

Hey Stephen, could not find any closer to home, was told this one spun over but it appears not.

Got 4 pistons out, the motor is still stuck, time for a big steam clean at work tomorrow and try to get number 3&4 pistons out, followed by the harmonic balancer and the crank and cam. Here are a few photos of pull apart. I am chasing a few pushrods, if anyone has any they don't have a use for anymore, been doing a lot of pushrod research and am about to manufacture my own chrome molly rods.

One thing to think through (before making moly pushrods) is what you want to do with the valve train. If you are going to use the standard rockers, then hollow moly push rods are not a bad idea. If you want to put roller rockers on it, then you have a few more options. Yella Terra make the grey motor rolly rockys to suit two types of pushrod - the standard "bell end" or cupped grey motor ones, and ball-end ones similar to small block Chev. If you choose the ball-end ones, you will need some different custom pushrods made up. The ball-ends are simpler design (and probably stronger), a poofteenth lighter, and easy enough to get custom made.
