Tailshaft tunnel

Gents, did all early holdens have an offset Tailshaft tunnel. What reason would there be for a 40mm offset tunnel in an EK. It's not like it needs offsetting due to grey motor and 3 speed size. But I've been putting in a 4 link and non of my measurements where working out lol, low and behold, tunnel is 40 mm offset lol.
Certainly no drama but just wondering why they would offset.
