Thought I'd have ago at restoring a bonnet insert in blue to match my intended paint scheme, this badge is now 3mm thinner than original after all the sanding and polishing to remove cracks and crazing.

Looks really neat 8) . Did you strip the lot (where the blue and silver is), or just where the blue is?

I tried stripping just the blue (red on the original), using the Matty Martin oven cleaner method. I had hoped to leave the chrome on the lion/diamonds in place, but it lifted too. I ended up buying a silver paint pen, and using that for the lion/diamonds... looks OK at a 2m distance, but not as snazzy as the original chrome.

I keep trying to convince myself that the badge location would be a good start for a cold air intake for the V8  .

Cheers,
Harv

I stripped the lot using Drain-O and warm water. The silver/chrome in this one is metallic enamel nail polish called ' no place like chrome'.
The effect is quite good, the pics really don't do it justice.
