Fuel Pump Gaskit size - Was the Goss Original issue

Post by Gossy »

Before i got nuts at the peeps at 'About time spares' for giving me the wrong size fuel gaskit for my EK ute. Just want to know if my Fuel pump is the original issue. Its a GOSS make that seems to be the standard in all the old grey engines.

The cork gaskit 'About time spares' gave me was about 4-5 mm too small for the diameter. See pic.
No vacuum, no seal, no fuel in.

Well, ahem... It did actually work out ok to be correct size. Just needed a little soak in some fuel to expand.
The Goss Fuel pump back in action.

Yes, one of the reasons cork is no longer used as gasket material is the 'shrinkage' problem.

On the subject of fuel pump brands, to my knowledge the fuel pumps fitted to all Holden Grey motors at the factory were made by AC in England.

Early Red motors also had AC pumps, but this was changed to Bendix during EH production.

Goss only made replacement pumps in the later years, from the 70s or 80s onwards.
