Wagon rebuild
hi people thought i would start a diary on the rebuild we have owned the wagon for just over a year flew down to Sydney had a look went for a drive then we drove back to Brisbane .
drove well only a faulty oil sensor on the way home.
since then we have driven the car to Canberra for our Sons wedding and back again been around lakeside for some happy laps and then the horror of traveling to the Nats is were it all went terrible wrong travelling up the highway oil light came on and motor seized.
so we have decided to fully strip down the wagon and restore her back to it's formal glory.

Re: Wagon rebuild
stripped motor down to find two very dry connector caps unfortunately bearings sitting at 30 thou and piston 60thou stamped on pistons, so stripped down a j Block which was looking way better so off to engine builder for a better look .
at time of typing this unsure if I am going to go the mild grey . was going to bolt the hydra backup behind it ( which I have no problems with the hydra) but since been looking at trimatic so went out and bought a HZ 1 tonner as a donor now thinking should I also bolt the 202 in as well ?I have a HR frontend lying in the shed but reading all the post regarding correct setup a little confused it has come out of a donor FB and tyres are really flogged out on sides which tells me it was never setup properly so may approach that as I go .
the plan was a mild grey same as I had done for my sons car except bolting on a Thomas with twin su's . now really unsure on which way to go.

Craig i don't believe so when i took it to the engine builder his thoughts were at some stage oil must of been low at some point of the engines lifetime , as all bearings showed a fair bit of wear sump was pretty clear of sludge thinking that maybe one of the journals had blocked up .but with saying that oil pump is been checked for wear as well.
was going through your build and considering fitting a full flow kit for the oil system if i keep the grey in it did you have to put any restrictors in your oil return Craig?
