Hi all,

I'm currently replacing both my front floor pans.
I've replaced the passenger one and fully cut out the old pan as it had already been replaced some years ago and but welded in a new pan trying to keep the gaps to a minimum which i found out was harder than first thought.
So for drivers side i have cut out almost a full pan and coverd it with the new pan, i have kbs rust sealed the old floor before putting on the patch but my question is the underneath looks horrible now that the new floor is in. Am i best to spot weld and stitch it to the new pan or just cut it all out as close as i can to the edge of the new pan??? Also how am i best able to stop the rust in the over lap??? i cant get a brush in there???

When we replaced the floors in mine we had overlap. We fully welded underneath and stitched the inside. Then used seam sealer top and bottom to seal it all up. No issues so far ten years on.

I normally butt weld floorpans, tek screw them in then use a 1mm cutting disc to cut through the overlap a section at a time then butt weld as you go.

oh god.. why didnt i ask this a month ago.. that sounds like the way to do it.. oh well next one.
Looks like ive got to build that rotisserie now..

I should add its only a small section of overlap. It's a way my mates done them for quite a few now and works well. Just make sure your thorough with the seam sealer.

its a great idea i might use it to pull the bottom bits up to trim them off and stitch them. i never even thought of it.

I butt weld them and grind both sides. Can't pick its been done when finished.
