Just wanted to share our FB project. This is such a great forum, we couldn't have got so far without the paint codes posts. (Morning grey and reefshell coral for those of you playing along at home.) The ute was in a pretty bad way (financially not a great investment), but it had family history and I think with the colours and the original flash kit, it will look not too bad. There are so many good posts on here and I'll be needing the advice as I try and reassemble it after so long at the body shop (4 years).

As original as we can, still undecided on rims though, don't know if to go with standards or wides. (Regular hubcaps though)
The photos of my dad, he's 65 now, and was blown away when we took him to the body shop to see the paint for the first time. Here's hoping I wasn't conceived in the fb!

On another note I am trying to get the steel seat trims painted, I know they are a bright red, but can someone tell me what the paint colour name is? 514-832 is the trim code.

Hi ScottySarah - welcome aboard.
I can't help you with the paint trim code - but someone here will.

As for rims - it would be my suggestion to stick with stock 4.50 x 13's... if you can find them.
There's a difference between 13's Holden rims though - the later ones (HD and HR - and especially all Torana) were set more inboard.

Your FB ones will have more of a dish on the outside - when you look at the inside of the rim, you'll also find that the four slotted holes between the dish centre and the rim have "formed covers" pressed from the centre steel - the later ones don't, they are simply cut flush with the centre - here's hoping you can find 5 of them.

I am gobsmacked that you are taking the original path - as mentioned above "another one saved" - not only from a survival perspective, but also in originality.... versus the age long trend to "modify" it..... we need more original cars - at FB/EK shows you'll see a growing number of EK modifieds..... and less and less EK originals (if you get a chance, consider the Nats up at Hervey Bay this year).

So - dibs to you for making the choice to "keep the faith".. wish I had.

The Interior should be "Mephisto Red" and the seat supports probably "Burgundy Red" or "Brigade Red" not sure which is the brighter one. SunnyTim will know..

Of course - trying to find 5 "new" standard wheels would be nigh on impossible - I'm pretty confident that a wheel specialist/retailer can supply a new set... of "widies".. 6" was the norm back then.
Legally, we were told here in Vic that we could go 1" greater in diameter and 2" wider than stock... "everyone" did it.. and 6" fell within the legality.

Your car, your call... I believe it is entirely your decision - and not what the "general" consensus here might try to persuade you to do.

I have a question for ya Tim..

When I had the steel seat moulds painted to match the seats in my cars I used paint chips and the bottom of this GMH paint code sheet that Stewart posted.





Milkshake matched "Oriental Green" code 9956 see above and matched off existing paint on the seat.



Blueberry matched "Chevron Blue" paint code 0265. I'm sure I matched that off Russell Coopers EK and someone else I know has that paint code on their EK as well.

The poster asked about the trim code 514-832 and I checked that and the register showed that code with "Mephisto Red" see below



So I would have thought that the steel seat supports would probably be "Burgundy Red" or "Brigade Red" as there listed on the paint sheet?

I noticed that with Russells Black EK the reds nice...

Here's the latest progress, hood lining and windscreen fitted, has anyone experienced puckering of the windscreen seal? Just a bit on the two top inside corners.
