Engine struggles to turn over

My grey is mounted with a 3 speed, clutch is installed, however there are no linkages or fliud to operate the clutch. Would this cause
any friction when trying to turn the engine over.

Apart from checking voltage drop, earthing, connections etc can I rule this out?

Cheers

No , you wouldnt think so , have you run an earth wire from the block to the body/chassis of the car ?

Hi Blacky

I'm using a basic setup to get the engine started as if it were out of the vehicle. To answer your question, no, and after reading some tests to do regarding voltage drops I reckon it will be a wiring issue more on the negative side of things.

The starter is good as I tested the motor and solenoid before fitting and have a good battery source as well.

Will troubleshoot after work tomorrow and let you know

Cheers

Finally........

After strip n clean dzzy and install pertronix ignitor.
Strip n clean put kits through carbies with venturi restrictors and different jets.
Mount engine.
Sort out radiator hose clearance due to front engine mounting plate.
Change timing gear while plate was changed over.
Set Mechanical timing......

Need to tweak timing and tune carbies, but I think Iam pretty much there!?

The engine is finally running.......WOOOOOHOOOO

Got two ID plates, obviously wont match the current colour and trim code though.

Took this one off when I painted the firewall.
