Radiator / Fan / Engine mounting?

Post by Lex68 »

Gday FBEK'ers

First I'll describe the mounting then the my radiator issue.....

Mounted the eng last week, its a 132 (2 x strommies with speco intake manifold). I required the smaller type front eng mount to suit the timing cover and outrigger. The engine seems to be sitting ok, but I do think for some reason it may be sitting rearward too much? as the block is about 10mm from touching firewall seam? I have adjusted a spare accelerator linkage to fit around the speco intake manifold however it hits the rear of the rocker cover when the movement of the accelerator linkage is going through the acceleration movement and before full throttle (I'm assuming) as I don,t have the carbies linked etc. (may have to go cable option on this one?)

Now for the radiator, I have two types and after checking model numbers, I have, 7416663 EJ and 7409838 FE-EK.
The EJ model is in good nick but as I found out the fan protrudes above the radiator, So I temp fitted the FE-EK radiator (core leaks) and noticed the fan will cut through top hose when it is fitted

Apologies for the long thread, but need to paint the picture. Similar problems, advice and options?
(use EJ radiator and trim fan to suit hose and accommodate safety?)
Feedback is appreciated.

Told you he would know :D
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

G'day SunnyTim,

I can imagine the shims raising the rear, but I cant really picture the front lowering though, I need to accommodate the radiator hose clearance. After measuring the height differences between the 132 and 138 Front engine covers, and the 138 cover will lower it by 40mm. I can see a difference in the plate size however the bolt holes seem to be the same. Do you know of this being done? While I'm at it I'll replace the fibre gear get a timing gear set.

Cheers Lex
