NOS Radiator Hoses

ok so hears an interesting question.

For some time know I’ve been trying to chase down a set of EJ NOS radiator hoses - top & bottom. I have come across a few different types, claiming they are NOS, but I am unsure what is what??: So….

Dose a NOS set have the Original part number painted on & also the GMH parts stickers..

or

Dose a NOS set have the Original part number painted on ONLY..

or

Dose a NOS set the GMH parts stickers ONLY..

Dave - Bootlegger has one but for EH. which is Original part number painted on & also the GMH parts stickers.. but it’s for EH. (Is that right Dave??)

So… when u purchased your new EJ Holden fresh from the dealer, did the radiator hoses, have both the painted part number & the sticker? or did the hoses just come with the painted part number?

& if so when did the sticker come into it? I would assume latter on,.

I’ve found ones for FB, EH & HD, but they only have the sticker, so would the sticker only version be a replacement part later on, after newer models have arrived??

See pic 1: EJ Bottom Hose - Painted number & what looks to be the original sticker which has come off, but a new hand written sticker placed on by the seller

The reason Im asking is i want to do reproduction stickers to put on my ej & get the original factory look

thanks all.

Question is sam, were the stickers on the cars from the factory or on the parts from the service dept when they were replaced?

I can understand the painted numbers but not the sticker, I would think that would be for the service dept staff reference?

Sam I doubt they would have had the sticker on them from new. Just the number.
I also thi k the mechanic would have removed the sticker when he fitted a replacement.
It would have been a real lazy mechanic to leave it on.

SunnyTim wrote:the painted numbers was around FJ FB period, whereas the labels came in later - just look at the branding of parts boxes and the associated eras.
Simple answer is both are right.
Dave, I fitted NOS hoses to my EK in 1997 and left the stickers on so I am a lazy arse lol. One fell of somewhere on the road home from Bendigo in 2009...
Tim
Tim dont tell anyone. I left the stickers on the nos ones I fitted to my eh van. :ughh:

Hey Sam, you should post those FE engine bay pics on the FE/FC forum.
Holdens black book lists this tag as a FJ style tag so the EX might be prototype?
The paint # 17323 is Polar White but the other paint number and the trim code don't exist in any of the books I have.
Might need Guru Ken to have a look at it.
Cheers Stewy 8)

Sam - the radiator hoses on my low mile EK don't have stickers (or any indication that they ever did), but, from from the photos I have here on my laptop, I can see at least the bottom hose has markings. Can't quite see, but I expect it's the part number. From the state of the hoses, I expect they are still the ones fitted in the factory even though the radiator has been re-cored at some stage.

I might pop up to the storage facility and visit the cars today and double check for you.

I also need to have a good long look at them and decide what I'm going to do when I move to Darwin at the end of the year.
