EK Holden Chassis Challenge

Good evening,
I have in my possession a 1961 EK holden. At the time of purchase (2004) I had no idea what it was but I loved it.
However the roof had been removed, and the back doors welded up (I thought thats how it was manufactured) This of course created huge stress in the centre of the car, so large plates were welded along the the inside to support it. Needless to say it has, and never will get a Warrant of Fitness so has been idle all this time. As it is obviously not in original condition the only logical thing to do(I'm guessing) is to cut off the underside and drop it onto a generic chassis of similar size.
I would really appreciate you advice as I am not mechanically minded but am surrounded by those (where I live) who are. So I would rather ask you experts than re-invent the wheel.
