Looking at fitting the inner and outer rubbers.
Just wanted to confirm the correct direction for gluing them in.
Inner Rubbers. A ?
or B ?
Outer rubbers. C ?
or D ?

I did mine like B & C. Don't know if it's right but they seem ok.

Mine are a different profile to those, but if I had to choose which way they go , I would choose A and C ????

Finny, I just went and checked on one of the wrecks in the back yard and its definitely A and C.

Thanks Guys.
I really don't want to pull them out again if they don't fit correctly. (idea just came to mind)
So C is locked in for the outers.
And I'll go with the A option, as my wagon had been redone, and the outers were in upside down, So I'm not going to trust it as a guide for the inners.
Blacky thanks for checking the others, it sounds like they might be original.
I also noticed that the inners do seem to have a flat edge on one side, so it's probably the part to glue unto the back.
I'll have a look at the Rare Spares instruction video again, but it doesn't really mention of show the profile.
Idea

- I'll just do the rubbers on one door and put the door back on to ensure everything is OK before doing the rest.
Last questions ?

I was going to use "grease and wax remover" on all the rubbers and gaps before gluing. (Is that enough)
And, do I need to use anything on them after installing, to help bed them in.
I'm sure I saw something mentioned about this ?

My rubbers were from Rare Parts, not Rare Spares. I just wiped the paint with prepsol then wiped off, glued the rubbers in and shut the doors. Left it overnight and they are as good as gold. Not sure with the Rare Spares ones , maybe Stewart (Parisian) or Les would be the best to ask ???

A and C is how mine went in. I think rustydungers might have given the paint a quick prepsol and then glued them in.
Adrian - did you get the pics I sent to you oon the phone?

Thanks guys.
Had a look on my parts wagon today and they also have A and C. So I'm locked in and read to go.
Looks like a good grease and wax remover and ready to glue.
Thanks Stewart, I got your messages.
Much appreciated.

hi there is a spray you put on the rubbers to make them a bit softer so doors close better. put on after glue has dried

I believe the spray is called Rubber Magic - it's an aerosol - can't say it does anything long term, but seems to make them a bit more pliable when fitting - don't apply before applying the glue and fitting them to the apertures.
I keyed up the locations where I tacked the rubber in place - I didn't apply it completely around the rubber - especially at the places where the drain ports are provided at the lower edges of the outer seal..
I only keyed up lightly - as in a scuff - just to give something for the adhesive to bite into.
I wiped down the rubber with acetone - to remove the moulding agent - then dried them with a lint free cloth - that was my method.
And, Finny - yes, A and C - half of my old bus still has its original rubbers..
frats,
Rosco

Thanks for the feedback, probably won't use the rubber magic, at this stage.
Have started on the rubbers and working OK at this stage.
Hi Rosco, were where you when I was struggling with my paint issues ?
But that's OK, I have more, will post them up later.
