Introduction - DanFranko's EJ

Hi Guys,

after a while lurking on the forum i thought i should start an intro thread...its nice to be on an active forum with helpful members. I have got quite a lot of useful info - Harv's stromberg guide was particularly useful!

Spent many years in a workshop where we always had old holdens around - our work utes were an EK and FC!

i currently don't' have an EK, although i have owned one (will dig up some photos and scan them - pre digital era). I have had a couple of EH's and EJ's - the car i currently have has been in the family for quite some time (with only a brief absence - long story).

Thought i would throw up a few photos of the old EJ - i was pleased to see that they seem to be well received on the forum. The EH car club has a display day coming up for the 50th anniversary - EJ's are also welcome, so i have spent some time cutting back the paint and getting it ready. Its an older restoration...ideally will need a bare metal spray again, but for now the current paint is doing a good job of holding the car together. Pretty original overall, have a few of the harder to get nasco accessories...always on the look out for others, but these days i think Ebay has pretty much killed the chance of getting a bargain at a swap meet.

Anyway, might see a few of the WA people out and about

Dan

Nice car. My uncle had an identical ej to yours. He drove it into the ground. When he sold it about 15 years ago. He got $300 and it still had heaps of rego.

Hi Tim. Thanks and yes it's Walhalla Gold.

Bootlegger...my first car 20 years ago was an EH. Cost me all of 500 bucks! After a respray and some trim it was pretty neat. Today the radio that was in it would almost fetch that alone!

Welcome danfranko. I also have an ej and love it. You will have a good time on this site. I have been around cars all my life and thought i knew a fair bit about them but the dreaming stops when you actually have a problem and have to trace the source remove the offending part of the car, strip the parts down, find the faulty component, find where to buy the replacement part, put it all Back together and set it up right. That is where the experience on this site really comes in. There is even a few smart arses which add to the enjoyment. I couldn't do without them.

Thanks again for all the positive comments and warm welcome.

I can certainly agree that this site is a wealth of information and has been a great help with the car to-date
