Straightening rear leaf spring mount

Now that the rear diff assembly is all out, The drivers side rear leaF spring mount has been bent somehow. (The very rear mount) Its bent out about 20 degrees towards to side of the car. no obvious marks to how it got bent, but I reckon it happened the same time something pushed the petrol tank inwards from the bottom of the car.

Anyway, my brother is bringing the gear on Saturday we are going to heat it up, straighten it and then cool it down. Now I have seen fitters in the workshop just use a wet rag/shirt to put over the steel once heated and moved to correct position to cool it quickly. My brother has mentioned he has been told to use oil and spray that onto the heated area. He cant remember but he said the oil doesn't effect the steel??

Any advice why to go oil? and should it be a particular type of oil? I am still keen to just use the wet rag, seems easier.

Wet rag will do the job , or just let it cool on its own.

the one i'm selling has the same issue if it don't sell that is all i'm doing heat it up and belt back into position, if worst comes to worst i have another chassis rail section that i'll just weld in or (except i can't keep a car  ) i've considered 4 link rear making the rear mount redundant

ended up being a 10 minute job! (if that) the bracket wasn't bent, it actually was the chassis rail that had bent down. All fixed now though

yep same as mine it's the chassis rail, i've tried just belting it down but no good need heat which i don't have but when it goes to get floor hump and gearbox cross member done i'll do it then
