Dakams breif view of the weekend

Post by Dakam »

Friday morning, pissing down rain.
Thinking to myself please dont be like this all weekend.
Left home at 10.00am, met up with Bumper, Devilrod, FJ225, and another FB Wagon.
Met up with a few more at Donnybrook servo.

Along the Hume, low and behold, weather clears up, thank fu*k !!!

Image

Stopped in at Seymour for a quick bite and met up with Bluehaze in an injected green FB (nice  )

Saw this sitting at a servo at the end of the Main Drag. Getting rust repairs done to the subframe. 1 owner 30k something original miles.

Image

The FB loaded up to the hilt at Seymour, nice and LOW !!!! 8)

Image

Another shot at Seymour

Image

Finally get to Wangaratta, unloading the car at the Caravan Park.

Image

An evening BBQ of steaks, (Cheers Bumper) snags and a few beveridges. Hey Shane !!

Image

After that, a quick walk over to the Wangaratta Club to sign in and have some more drinks and catch up with everyone in very fresh conditions

Image

Saturday morning is sign in, a quick wash of the cars to make them look half presntable.

Image

Then on to Apex Park for a briefing for cruises that were on.

Image

Image

Off to Kelly country for the afternoon, Glenrowan.
Must admit, was a bit disapointed. Was really just gift stores with little Museums in the back of them.
Didnt see the sound and light show, but with a sign out the front saying "No Refunds Given", I didnt want to take the chance.

Image

Locking my daughter in a makeshift gaol, wheres the padlock !!!!

Image

LOOK !!! Theres Ned on a petrol powered pushie. Went pretty good too.

Image

Nightfall came, out to dinner to the Wang Racecourse. Out the back of nowhere down some dirt tracks, start thinking that I can hear Banjos plucking, sphincter slowly tightens. Not to be, in there for a meal and auction night. No pics sorry.

Saturday night, back to the Caravan Park for drinks around the fire. YES, my wife did have another GAY cooler bag, and YES, it eventually did get thrown in the fire. by who Im not going to say, but it was not me this time

Sunday, Show'n'Shine time.
Drag myself slowly outa bed, wipe over car and back to Apex Park.
Didnt do pics of all the cars as I thought everyone elsewould have done that, and also I'm lazy.
End of the day, all the cars start posing for photo ops. Took a few here.

Image

Show'n'Shine done and dusted, of to dinner in a very fancy venue. Great night with great people.

Image

All done for another year.

Monday.
Wake up, pack car and hit the road.

Image

Image

An issue with Richards FB, nothing major, just blocked fuel line.

Image

Need some wire to clean the line out, oh look, theres a fence. MacGuyver would be proud.

Image

Cleaned out, alls good.
Stopped off at a Roadhouse for lunch. Kick ass burger with the lot.

Image

Back on the road and head the back way home through Yea.
A VERY big scare as we weaved our way through the hills and came very close to having a head on with a 4WD. The 4WD ended up in the ditch on our side of the road. FU*KING IDIOT !!!!!!!

Image

Alls well that ends well. Got home safely, just really dont want to unpack now. Weekend went way too quick.
Thanks to the Vic Club for putting it on, thanks to everyone for a GREAT weekend.
Now I'm all shitty as i gotta go to work in the morning.

So Richard, did you and Devilrod find that clip that shot of into the long grass?
Sorry we didn't pull up to help, we had the club breakdown kit on board, Mrs Reidy thought you only had a flat tyre and said you had plenty of helpers.

It was a bit of the fence we were borrowing took off when cut...

We actually said the same thing Bill, most would have thought its just a flat!

Was a good night at the fireplace, even if we did have to raid other campsites for wood.

Great to catch up and have a drink and a laugh with you guys, although I wasn't laughing much the next day. That's the last time I'm gonna mix beer and potato chips! Lucky we had those tequila shots which settled my stomach down. Thanks to Dave and Jeff from the FX/FJ club for bringing it  Wouldn't you think I'd give up potato chips cause of the headache I get the next day!

I saw you go past, I was hoping you didn't notice
Um yes, we did find that clip, thanks...
That blockage in the line was what we had on Sunday night when it stalled, then it came good. DON'T use RTV blue or any other sealant for the gauge sender!!! When the fuel line is blocked by a piece of squishy blue rubber, no amount of sensors or computers are going to help.

Richard, I take it you didn't break open the replaced filter you changed when we were following you on the Saturday?
I'm guessing you might have got some clues from doing that.. hindsight is an advantageous benefit, but a clump or two of the blue stuff in there would have given clues.
All done now - and I bet you'll be pumping some air down those lines to clear them out....?

Thanks for the pix, Dakam - even got one of our camp in the background in one of them... way off in the background behind the "car wash"..
