Blinker not working??? Could be this....

Post by indiana »

Luckily this time I can offer some advice instead of asking for a change!!! First some history. Phoebe had a new steering column put in last year after some dipshit fecked up a simple repair. All seemed okay for a while until a couple of weeks back my left hand blinker started to work on and off. Checked the fuses, and the bulbs....all okay. There was a pattern starting to develop though. When engaging second gear, it would either make the blinkers work or not. It didn't take long for me to figure out that shifting gear was affecting the blinkers. Finally the left turn stopped altogether, whilst the right was still fine.
Got the steering wheel off, and finally found the problem. When the column was fitted, the wire harness with the indicator wires was fed up the sleeve, and not through the gate that has the gear lever on it. What had happened that changing into second sandwiched the wires until eventuall it cut through one :ughh: Anyways it wasn't too much effort to rewire and all is working nicely now :yeahhh:
