What are people's thoughts on waterless car cleaning. Most detailers I've spoken to won't go anywhere near it, though other people I've spoken to love it

Nope, never liked the idea and never looked into it. Think Dakam may have.

I use it most of the time on my 'pet' car; very happy with the results. HOWEVER, the car MUST be fairly clean to start with. Spray on, wipe clean with microfibre cloth, then polish with a clean microfibre cloth; comes up great (chrome included).
For any real dirt, I wash it with water, dry off with chamois then use waterless wash as above.
Tried most brands - currently using Polyglaze.

Probably not worth the effort unless you keep your car fairly clean (eg; sunny sunday driver) and your paint is in very good nick...

I never use it on my everyday driver - it gets warm water, a dollop of car wash, dried off with a chamois or old towel (and not very often, either after keeping the other car clean I've had enough of bloody cleaning...)

I'm pretty anal when it comes to washng cars . One sponge and bucket for the body, one for the wheels.

I'm looking at waterless mainly coz I'm paranoid about rust, though a few detailers I spoke to said the waterless system can scratch the paint if it's very dirty, especially on acryilc .

I would recommend that after you wash the car, take for a small drive around the block to blow out any remaining water.
