I need some advice from those that have done this before.
My fibre timing gear needs to be replaced. So I need the method of doing both in and out of the car.
With camshaft out will it drive off if I have no press? Or if I do it in the car how do you get the old off and the new one back on?
I know there are those who have done this before. Some advice please. With tips of what not to do etc.

Whatever you replace them with consider why Holden used fibre gears on gray motors..

As Tim says, be very careful you don't punch out the welch plug with the cam whilst driving the gear on. Also make sure there isn't too much or not enough clearance between the cam gear and thrust washer.
Another thing is because the timing cover has no locating holes and dowels, if you can get hold of an alignment tool so that the seal is aligned correctly with the balancer. Good luck with it fbvan.
