Grey motor Auto vs Manual

My grey motor blows a bit of smoke, which concerns me a little. :erm:
I have another Grey which was (still is) connected to an auto and in the parts car (mine is a manual), and wonder if anyone can see any reason why I couldn't swap them over.

I will be keeping the head off the manual because I have already had it done up to take unleaded.
Its just the bottom end that I was looking to swap over, which is where I assume  the smoke is coming from......

I think you would just need a flywheel and a clutch kit?

Finny,

Time for a compression check (dry then wet) to pinpoint the bottom end as your smoke source (or better yet a leakdown tester if you can find one). Is your parts car in a fit state to do a compression check on it too? Might be swapping in an even smokier motor.

Unless it's giving you drama, just leave the manual gearbox in place i.e. swap over just the bottom end from the parts car, and keep your existing head/carb/gearbox/clutch etc. No difference in the manual/auto bottom ends that I am aware of (I could be wrong though).

Cheers,
Harv.
