Put the driveshaft in this afternoon. It looks like at the back of the gearbox where the seal sits is missing something? A dust cover or collar? It's an early gearbox not EK...maybe FJ?

Stu,
There are three types of extension housings for grey motor crashies - one steel (FX/FJ) and two alloy (one with long bracing ribs, and one with short bracing ribs). The dimensions (overall length, bushing length and diameter, bolt location, locating flange lip diameter) of the three units are identical, through the mild steel unit is 3/16” longer due to the use of an extra shroud at the rear of the extension (looks much bigger in the photograph below). The lip seal that is press fitted into the rear of the extension and seals up against the main drive shaft as it exits the gearbox is identical for all three units. The three units, including the seals, are fully interchangeable.
The photo shows a short rib extension and a steel one. The steel one ends up with a big gap between the lip seal and shroud (special GMH design option for collecting crap

). Your installation looks right to me - you did grease that uni though didn't you?
Cheers,
Harv
