Cameo beige Ute
Cameo beige Ute
G'day All
Thought that I would share some photos of my latest project. Some will know it as it came from Steve Jackson. It arrived yesterday from Sydney and is now tucked up in my workshop.
The plan is to restore the mechanicals and the bodywork.
I am keen to keep the paintwork pretty much as is, but am getting a lot of negative comments.
Such as, "you cannot leave it like that" or " you will have to paint this one"
Anyway what are your thoughts? To paint or not?
It is in good condition, not much rust and just general wear and tear damage.
My FB van by the way has gone to a new home in Melbourne.
But I will retain the Forum moniker.
It seems that I am having difficulty loading photos. Will do some shortly.

Re: Cameo beige Ute
That's not a bad old ute at all
Saw it in the 'flesh' and it'll be an easy one.
You paint and it will cherry in that colour.
You leave and it will look, well, just like it does now after the idiot that had it before Steve took to it with 80 grit !
Your ute, your decision. Definitely needs some new tyres and that handbrake needs adjusting and a new length of rope to haul it back into the cab !
Keep us posted

Re: Cameo beige Ute
I'd paint it. Yes it would be good to keep the original paint but that is what is protecting the steel and stopping it from rusting and from the pics it's not getting much protection.
Maybe paint the outside and keep the original paint inside?

Not much paint on it left to keep!
Definately give it a new coat. It will look terrific and protect it for years
