FB EK Nats. The whole Trip is Fun as well!

Post by EKfanPaul2 »

Some interesting things to see on the way there and back.... Mt.Gambier was an excellent place for a nationals. Very scenic and a car friendly town

At Derrinallum in Western Vic, we stopped for fuel at Urquhart Motors. The manager came out and showed me a pic of brand new FC's being delivered there as it used to be a Holden dealership / service station.

Also, the old garage at Mortlake used to be a big service station, now closed. - Australia's Route 66 type attractions are there, you just have to keep an eye out

The show and shine & sign in area was in Valley lake beside the Blue lake, part of an old volcano.

A fantastic place for a show & shine. An old tower on the rim of the old volanco overlooks the area. The road to the tower is a narrow steep road that the curator drives up and does a 3 point turn on (without much room) . If this place was in the nanny-states like Vic or NSW, there would be barriers on each side and around the small car park at the top. Not here. Very steep drop down the sides and a bit of a tough walk to the tower.

The first car to drive up to the top was a 1910 Argyle which did a '50 point' turn to turn around. The curator of the tower was a retired gent was was the service manager for the Mt.Gambier Holden dealershop. He said he would pick up new FB's & EK's in Adelaide & drive them to Mt.Gambier & give them their pre delivery service.

Great scenery, great cars. This EK was not in the show, but a lovely car just outside!

The run to Port MacDonnell on Saturday was a hoot. 50+ Fb's & Ek's in a convoy.

Some locals turned out, including a 16 year old girl who owned this light blue & white EK sedan with that cool white & blue interior.
Dad managed to get her these 'devil' indicators. The badge on the car is interesting, from a long gone factory in North Melbourne - why it would be on the car, who knows?

I suggested she contact the local clubs or the SA FB EK club and get on the forum if she needs help with her car.

Every car there has an interesting story

I couldn't agree more

I never get sick of seeing pic's of other people's cars too. The more I see them, the more I love FK's.

Thanks for the Plastic link Cruz.

I have a tiny hole on a front indicator lens following the Wagga Wagga long weekend rally. I noticed blue FB on the rally got the whole lens smashed. T'was a great run & show with excellent weather but farm utes going the other way at maximum warp do throw up a few stones.

cheers
