Just wondering fellas, is there some sort of secret to getting a diff with the leafs already loosely bolted to it to go into the car easily? We can get the rear shackles easy as but the front bolts aren't going in. They are originals and don't seem to even fit in the original holes..

Put the fronts in first , you havent got a hope in the world of getting it right the other way .......

Once the front is in , you will need two bits of timber and a trolley jack to get the rears in , put the timber on the rear eyes and jack the diff up , the springs will flatten out and run toward the back of the car . Fit youyr shackles , tighten everything up while the weight of the car is on the jack under the diff , remove the timber and the jackstands you have under the body , drop it to the deck and have a stubby or 10.

We've tried that already, we had the fronts most of the way through but then after knocking one out it actually wouldn't go through the front hole at all.. so thats the issue.

The block of wood trick is amazing and we've figured that one out already

Edit: Should elaborate, tried to get the fronts through and got them most of the way.. then decided to knock it back out and try a pre fit from the other side and the thread wouldn't go through the hole.. so we are thinking of enlarging the hole a mm for clearance.

Are the pins you are using from Rares? If so I had to file the pin down as there is no 'step' in the end

Hey Stuart,

No they aren't rares ones they are originals with the threads cleaned up and a chamfer put on the end to assist in locating in the hole as it goes through.

I have seen your post regarding those pins and was pretty adamant to do my best to not use them haha.

I'm at this stage thinking i'm going to just have to file the hole a fly shit so the pin can go through easier.
