Question regarding windscreen washers and reverse lights.

Just a quick question regarding the washers and reverse lights after being brought up by a mate of mine who recently picked up a nice AP6 Valiant..
He told me that the Valiants had come up with a reverse light switch that sat under the dash, but they had not yet come up with a way to make it work with the gearbox APPARENTLY so when you reversed you just flicked the switch yourself before you started reversing.
This got me thinking whether or not they were a factory item on an EK, even though they did have a provision for a reverse light as my car never had any reverse switch that i can see under the dash or attached to the original gearbox way back when we removed it.
I'm also wondering if the reverse light is infact needed, and if its legal to make a one piece indicator lense and delete the reverse light altogether and if needed, wire it into the indicator like almost every other old Holden / old car of the time had.
Second question,
I'm just wondering if EK's came out with windscreen washers from factory or if it was a NASCO accessory item or something that you just decided whether you wanted it or not at the dealership. I have the windscreen wiper arm surround thingies but they don't have a pipe coming through them that i've seen some of them have from time to time.
