EK 2 door custom

Is it possible to graft an FC-E front end onto an EK without too much chopping and changing. Reason I ask is I have the oportunity to purchase an unfinished 2 door project and I realy like the FC front with the chunky grill and chrome light bezels that emulate the early Chevs. Let me know what you guys think as I'm only thinking about it seeing that the car is already been chopped.

I know many of the members on this forum are not a fan of the custom but I know there are a few on here that are. This car had already been chopped and its fate was grim with the prospect of it being cut up. After seeing the car I was keen to keep it alive and give it a rebirth. I've drawn up an idea of the direction I hope to be heading and complete the already started conversion. Will be sticking with an EK front.
This is the poor ol girl as it stands with lots of work to come in the future.

And this is a basic outline of a stock body.

I'm a big fan of the Buicks so this is a basic outline of a stock body.

This my idea of finishing the 2 door chop with the buick styling.
I have a few projects on the go atm so as i mentioned and it will be a future project so the parts collecting will start. As you can see there will be a big shopping list.
Mods if this post is in the wrong area please move.
Mick.

I like your way of thinking and Ive been there before on a few of the things your thinking so I can see whats not in your drawing that will alter the over all look.I hope you dont mind me sayingt but the line from the tail light to blinker is not there , the handle on the door will probably have to be lower due to the curve over of the door , The rear window is not that shape so it will be custom $$$
The roof shape is possible but wont come from the curves in an EK roof so might be worth taking into account shopping for another roof that will give the right profiles.
what other projects have you got on the go ?

Have considered those changes. The other thing i didnt mention is it will be pillarless. The idea is when the door is cut to make it longer the top rear 1/4 of the door will get cut and dropped that moving the handle and lock down then a complete new skin be manufactured to follow the newley shaped top edge of the door. The same will be done with the "B" pillar moving the striker area down. A new rear panel will also be made to the shape required. If you look at the roof it has already had a new section added in and stitch welded so there is nothing to lose by adding extra metal to change the roof line. The rear window is my only issue can an original be cut or are they toughened.

WOW I reckon that is shit hot !
Not overly keen about the "Buick" look, but that's me.
Metal work is easy, the glass is the stuff I'd be stressing over
Front an Rear screens could be $$$$$$$$$
Have a good chat with Paul...."Chopped" ....and he should be able to give some good advice.
Best of luck with it, would love to see it finished

Thanks Trev.
Harko. Some of the other projects in the pipeline.
#4 off the production line. Plan to return this back to original but may keep the 186/Celica 5 speed

48 Vauxhall

Look I'm going for. Probably run a Commodore v6

33 Plymouth sedan. Another poor ol ride chopped up for a farm work horse

Hoping to end up with something like this. Be a one and only as Plymouth didnt produce a comercial vehicle until 1938.
Plans for a 350 sbc in this one
Mick.

Had Paul in mind but I could'nt remember his user name thanks Doc. Anybody got his number. I also had a short chat with Tony from Olden Holden about his 2 door and what was involved with the 2 door pillarless conversion. I originally called him chasing a roof. Said he had a good one but had just trashed it a couple of days before I called him. Anyone arround Perth have one and at a reasonable price.

Nice score, you got nothing to lose, but a lot of potential with a lot of work

Exactly what I thought. For $200 the rear on its own would probably be worth that plus it has really good cills and rear parcel shelf. So really nothing to lose.

If you are after "That Buick look" A Vauxhall Cresta is what you need to look at for the roof and rear windows.
