Re: Grey pride run - Berrima NSW Sun 20th May
Yep this is definitely on this coming Sunday the 20th.
Its the official May club run for the FB-EK Holden Car Club NSW .
Meet at the Mobil Service Station Pheasants Nest at 9.30 for a 10.00am departure.
It's a fun family day with the main point collecting a range of cars together to celebrate the mighty Grey Motor which originally powwered many of our cars and still does drive just as many.
Berrima has lots of craft shopts etc and one or two pie shops too !
There are a couple of prizes awarded on the day which are more of a peoples choice award than anything too serious so come along and have fun.
cheers

Re: Grey pride run
It's a nice run and not a bad turn out if last year is anything to go by..just expect an FE?FC to win the trophies..after all they put it on.
I'll see you all there..Pete & Kim are coming down in the Ute (new grill & all)...maybe even Cee Jay in his 40 F O R O ute..
Scotty.

See you in the morning!!!
Re: Grey pride run
I'm a bit confused, the links say everyone meets elsewhere at 7.30? Just want to make sure I'm going to the right place. And I'm guessing we end up in berrima and stick around there for a bit?

Re: Grey pride run
Peter and I in a ‘convoy’ of two set out at 8.30 bound for Berrima for the 2012 Grey Pride run. Once onto the Hume Highway we got those grey motors working and cruised on a comfortable 60mph. Just out of Campelltown we spied Timmy in the distance but by hook or by crook we just couldn’t catch him. On the way we were passed by an jaw dropping two tone ’58 Chev, a clean HD ute with running a 308, a red EK which I hadn’t seen before and Dave in his green EK with wide whitewalls with youngen Andre giving us a huge wave and grin out the window as they passed.
We rolled into Pheasants Nest about 9.30 with already a respectable number of early Holden’s taking in the morning sun. Slowly plenty of familiar faces and cars began to fill the carpark. A late ‘40s or early ‘50s Chev cruised in with an amazing patina and oozing coolness. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. By around 10am the signal was given and the convoy was rounded up bound for Berrima.

We took the turnoff to Mittagong and onto a remnant of the old Hume Highway. I love driving that piece of road in the FB with it numerous bends and steep sections. It really gives you something to think about. On one of the hills I caught a glimpse in the mirror of a green hulk of a vehicle. ‘No it couldn’t be’ I reassured myself. I gripped the steering wheel tighter, a slight sweat of panic on my brow.

I dared another glance in the mirror. It was closer. There was no doubt this thing was wound up and firing.

A bead of sweat ran down my forehead. Another glance in the mirror. My eyes were met with an ugly sight of a gaping grill and menacing eyes. Its motor roaring as it sucked fuel to feed the monster. It was moving in for the kill.

I planted my foot determined not to be caught. Damn…it’s on the floor…there was nothing left. I willed the grey for more…more of nothing. It loomed alongside beside me, its massive bulk blocking out the sun. Its driver flashed a crazed grin and let out a shriek. That Bootlegger and his dastardly deeds no doubt.

The FB shuddered as if knowing. My knuckles turned white and I braced. So this was it. “Live better – electrically” or live a life of shame…to be passed on a hill by a Council Inter truck towing a boat...

Once parked at Berrima we took in the sights with plenty on offer for everyone – originals, sports, customs and modifieds. Every now and then a grey motor repco crossflow roared. It was good to catch up with people. We ate a meat pie and washed it down with a choccy milkshake and had a great time. Many thanks to the FE-HR Club of ACT for organizing the day.
