I've been using White Spirits and Arco lately when I need to restore stuff for customers.
I've used some straight Arco on an old seat and it cleans it up nicely, gives back some softness and looks good too.
As for the cooking oil  WTF?

I'll be stocking it soon, but in the mean time my supplier is selling it on ebay. You can get it in spray or tubs, from customer feedback the spray is better.
