New to Forum and WA

Post by Marko »

Hi guys, recently moved from Qld to WA, currently about 4 months away from engineers certificate and registering my FBvan with 308 in QLD. The van should be finished by about May and here shortly after. All mod work being done in QLD including rego then transfered to WA rego when it arrives. May need some parts along the way, posted as required. So far respray is done, loads of stainlees bolts with polished heads all over vehicle, engine and box in, HX discs all round, 10 bolt diff, convo pro's and crazy art work in timber panel in rear. Pictures as we go and finals when she arrives. Good to catch up for a cruise or chat some time - I am near Geraldton 0400157152

Thanks for the welcom guys, picture is of the car as it was a month ago. I will endeavour to upload more pics as the project continues. The wheels are not mine, It will end up with 15in convo pro's. Once the 308 is in I will upload some engine bay shots. Does anyone know if I need to fit an imobiliser to the van to change rego from QLD to WA.

Great looking ride Marko....welcome to the forum

You do realise the van will have to pass a W.A. pit inspection once it gets here :?:
Not raining on your parade, just a little heads up to make sure you've done you're homework!

Will have to hold a cruise to Geraldton once you get here
Tho, you may need that immobiliser living there

Hey DOC, I have made a call to DOT and they informed me that yes it would have to be inspected however they would acknowledge and reciprocate engineers mod plates from QLD. I will have the van trucked over within a couple of weeks of registering it in QLD. I know the mechanic doing the work very well, know his work standards and he can issue mod plates. Are you aware of any issues that have arisen during any other state to state rego changes.

Thats correct Marko - provided its licenced in your name in QLD , I think its for 12 months prior ? - they will just do a standard inspection and your current engineering report will be accepted.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Hi Marko,

Welcome to WA (and your van too). Looks like a cool ride and glad to see a good old 308 going in to it. Nice choice.

Hi Blacky, Crap the 12 months in my name is going to be an issue. My van has been off the road hidden in a shed since 1999. Long story short, I brought the van off the Cairns Histroic Society in 1998 after it's owner donated it to them. He had a mid life change of heart and decided to become a monk and had to donate (give away) all of his belongings and moved overseas to follow his dream. Apparently it is an old bread delivery van from Victoria.
Anyway - the van was registered in my name but in 1998, are you aware of options or issues for a straight rego transfer.
Cheers Marko

Hi Marko,

my ute is regoed with a 350. the ute had just been regoed in Qld about four months prior. i had all the paperwok and had no drama with the inspection.
the ute was not in my name, i produced a receipt for the ute and it all happened in about three hours... most of that waiting @ Welshpool Inspection Centre.
I was told to go there as if there were any problems they could speak with the appropriate people.

i still have all the required info etc and a contact number @ DOT.
i can pm you my number..

cheers

Dave
