I'm running NGK BP5S plugs on a stock (0.010" over) grey. Seem to run OK (mixture of day-to-day Sydney traffic and 500km highway trips with a trailer loaded to the gunwhales), though I tend to overdose it with the lead additive and it fouls the plugs with stalagtites from time to time.

Harv,

Why I'm asking is there was a bit of talk some time back how Champion plugs had turned and weren't worth buying but lately I hear of people have gone back to them, guess I'm trying to get any feedback good and bad. I know a couple of blokes that won't look at NGK's :?

Hi Mick,
Many years back, after a bad batch of Champions - I found a plug which effectively had 3 electrodes... Lodge - there were double the price, but were still in the engine when I pulled it out after some 50,000 miles..... only needed a clean up at about the same interval as changing the gearbox oil (that's how I remembered to do it).
They were particularly good for engines which were burning a bit of oil... I don't know if they are still available....

I played with the idea of fitting "Iridium" plugs to the current engine - then thought that for the amount of time it is in use.... not worth the expense....

frats,
Rosco

I'm using Bosch WR10FC in my stock EJ grey which came gapped at 0.9mm.I was told to leave the gap as is but was after a broader spectrum of advice.Should iI re gap the sparkplugs or just leave them? What should the gap be if I was to change it? Jeff
