Thanks Sunny Tim,
I agree its all about the numbers!
The FBEK club has been running here about 3 1/2 years.
I guess the "key" would be to get the WA crew on board then SA would be central, actually i believe Alice Springs would be a great spot for a nationals.
Im involved with 2 van clubs and the Van Nats come here every 4 years, Mt Gambier and Pt Augusta being the venues.
The car scene here seems to be dying and would be great to inject some enthusiasm.

nats would be great here SA but
about a week ago another member and myself went through our list of members we hab about 55 names and numbers i sat and rang half the list while he rang the other half
as a lot of people have moved on sold cars so the list did shrink in numbers
after placing a new add in local papers we did create a bit more intrest and recruited a few new members
although our club members would take a keen intrest in holding the nats here in SA i think the numbers from SA wouldnt contribute enough to making it worth holding it here unless like suggested it be held closer to VIC like Mount Gambier wich would create more intrest from the eastern states to travel to SA
as 4 the car scene dying here in sa
i dont think it is there is still huge intrest just a lot of car clubs
wich makes it harder to recruit new members when theres so many to choose from
as a car show promoter our last years show had around 280+ entrants
and from those entrants just revewing entrant forms there were about 30 different local car clubs clubs
myself i would like to see the nats here and have just included the topic in to our next news letter to see what the response would be
cheers dave

Firstly, not all FBEK owners are in a club, i have 5 mates who aren't.
A.I.R,the SMASA show(nearly cancelled),hoon laws, the cost of fuel/living etc etc, are some of the reasons i think it's dying.
Just how many entrants do you need to hold the show?
I still think getting the WA crew interested would make it a true national event and given a time that suits everyone, who knows maybe 80-100 cars.
Just trying.....
I'll be No1 ticket holder to that event!!!

i didnt say all fb/ek owners were in the club just refering to people who are
there are a lot of them out there who arnt in any clubs at all and thats what advertising events is for to create more intrest
as 4 the smasa show n shine it was the lack of help from members which caused the cancellation of their show, maybe the shake up helped it get happening again
hundreds or maybe thousands of members yet left to one person to try and run the whole thing
80 -100 cars would be a awsome effort and would make a great show
i reccon we set a date in 08 and give a shot
cheers dave

FWIW.
The FE/FC Nationals are in Mt Gambier in Easter 2008, the 50th anniversary of the FC will probably boost numbers as did the 50th of the FE at Philip Island.
I don't think Mt G was selected for any particular reason, but it is a bonus for Vic/Melbourne members, although there are WA members that have booked their accomodation already.
The Philip Island Nats had 120+ FEs and FCs, numbers have increased every year as word gets around.
A lot of work goes into a Nationals, more so than a static 1 day show so a solid, dedicated (long term) club or group is needed
Half the fun of attending the Nats is the road trip anyway.

Hi all , I've read with interest the comments surrounding an S.A Nationals ! . Its something we have spoken about within our club on past occasions and and idea which has some merit with the Holden factory located in SA.
I think SunnyTim is on the right track when he says that the best idea would be to send some details of the proposed event schedule through the the NSW , QLD and VIC Clubs as these are where the bulk of entrants are going to potentially come from. I agree that the road trip is half the fun of the Nationals but location is critical to maximise your entry numbers and ensure that facilities are available to support the event.
Also need to bear in mind the costs and organisation required in running a Nationals. Not being negative here but the outlays before you start getting entries can be quite high so you need to have a bit of a warchest going before you start !!
Interesting ideas coming out anyway which is the main thing and good for the club movement as a whole.
Cheers.

Nice One HEMI! Even if S.A did'nt get the nat's within 3or 4 years ,
just over the Border maybe Mildura,Horsham
would be a more do-able trip for S.A.based FB/EK owner's.
And if the number's were good in Mildura then Renmark,Berri,Barmera
etc is less than 200ks from there so maybe that could be an option.
As you guy's probabely Know the S.A.riverland is a popular place
for the Hotrod National's etc.
I also agree with HEMI in that there seems to be a lot of nice FB/EKs
gettin around Adelaide that are not necesarily involved in a club as such,
I guess the question is why?
Also is the S.A. FB/EK club an Affiliated, and if not?
Is it the whole number's thing again?
anyway guy's thanx for lettin me stick my nose in-not that ya's had a choice

I see the problem- if one person is trying to monopolize the whole
FB/EK Scene, then they would put 100% in to that cause.
But if they were involved in a further 3 or 4 Projects then the amount
of effort/energy put into the original cause would then
be dispersed to the others, ie: 4 projects = 25% effort/energy for each.
Aswell as coming across as overbearing it would also cause other people
with the same interests to dissociate themselves from the cause/s.
Personally, I would rather excel at one thing, than be average at four.
Obviously this is coming from a state which hasnt held the nats,
but if someone put all their energy in to one cause, then others could
also get on board and make it achievable.
thanks FBfred

Just a quick observation, It seems that When the SA club are going to run an FB/EK nationals all talk is to make it as close to SA as possible so you won't have to travel too far! Thats all fine for you guys but you have to think about the travel for other clubs like QLD aswell.
The point I'm trying to make is that when Vic, Qld or NSW run the nationals 99% of the time we consider how far it is for the other clubs to travel so we can maximise attendance numbers, for eg; QLD's last one was in Treterfield (nth NSW) and Vic's last year was in Albury (sth NSW).
So you might have to go alittle bit out of your area to get a bigger turnout.
Just my opinion guys

.
How many SA guys are coming to the nationals this year?
