Hi guys, where can I get these clips? or what is a good substitute?

They are for the larger FB strip rear door and rear quarter, that screw to the body and the strip presses on. I can substitute a spring clip and nut, though I am trying not to drill larger holes to accommodate them.

I had a search around for these a few months ago to no avail..

I would also like to know what could be used as a substitute.

Are they same clip used for the Ek strips?

Yep. I never found any either but I managed to make a usable set from two cars. As steve said one option is to drill the holes out and use a spring clip. These you can get.

How about making some?

I had to for my HT.

Cut some 1.6 stainless steel into rectangles the same overall size as the original clip (looks like about 20mm x 10 mm), drill a hole in the middle to suit a stainless machine screw that fits nicely through the existing hole in your car,poke the screw through the stainless rectangle and tig weld it on.

Fit them to the mould (is there a slot towards one end of the mould to do this?,cos Im unfamiliar with these particular parts)Then fit them to the car with mastic around the studs and fit some nuts from inside the panel.
Dont do them up too tight or the panel will buckle a little and look shithouse.

Does that make sense?

I know its not original,but it worked a treat for me.

Ill take pics of some I made for my application and post them up if that will help.

Have you been in to see Dean at American Autos? It may be worth taking the clip in and showing them. I did that for the wagon clip along the roof line http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtop ... lip#p77455 and had success. the clip was originally used for FB EK but had been re-used until the HR and as a result had a HR part number.

that clip is also the clip for the side chrome on an EK which is the same as the trim you refer to on an FB obviously except the front door

next, wasn't there somebody a while back that was looking into making them

then, after working in a place that made electrical terminals they would be simple to make but costly by the time they made a die for the press, but where i worked i used to see them making things kinda like this from scratch all the time, one guy would do up a computer program, then a machine (CNC i think) would make the die, tool makers would then fine tune it and into the press and bingo thousands a day

Hi Stewart, thanks for your reply. I used those very clips on the top of the rear flash (three needed each side)

The lower moulds are of corse much wider (eight needed for the back door and rear quarter)

spectrum aren't all they're cracked up to be but i can tell you also they don't have them been there numerous times all they have is this'll do clips

it sucks tim as i said they'de be quite easy to make just a little costly and i think they could make in one day (after the die was produced about another day) more than would ever be sold
