mine & dazzajay's FB ute

Post by holdenutechick »

Picked up our FB ute today, it's surprisingly better than expected condition.

Will still take a fair bit of work time and money but she'll be worth it in the end!!

attached for your viewing is pictures of the various things that we need to do.

It has been resprayed the original colour looks to be a light blue with red trim, can someone please advise the correct colour and trim combination from the ID plate?

Score! Definetly got a good solid base to start with. Even the bumperettes look good. Usually they rust out and split.

Now the fun begins!

more photos! got everything out of the back except the heavier parts (an engine another engine block the transmission and the drive shaft).

the homemade canopy that was on the back has scratched a lot of paint back to the metal causing rust so now removed it certainly is not going back on it!

Our discoveries today the seat brackets are completely rusted through and broken making a hole in the floor and the seat floating around loose all but one screw, we have a wasps nest and rust behind where the engine is sitting in the tray.

And apparently chrome on the dash is fitted with blu tack!

Score , good luck on the journey ,I hope your man knows how to spin the spanners and weild a mig or atleast be willing to learn .
Lotsa dust on everything as I guess is expected out that way ,once you clean it up I think it will be surprising how good it is.
Also good to know where it was built and sold to, to know if its been near the salt air ever or just a country car .
get the fish oil into the sills when theyre painted.
You can search rego numbers and chassis numbers to find out some history on its life aswell.

But generally where trim frays on the edges it looks good , the wheel arches arent too bashed around which means it hasnt had a hard hard life etc
Chrome is good enough to save the 3-4 grand for rechroming.
and if the sills and floors are good enough to not completely replace you are in for a reasonably pain free freshen up.

Awesome

Original Colour is Morning grey. Dont know original trim colour???? dont think those seats are orig???? as utes had a standard trim, this looks like a sedan trim. ?????

trim colour on the ID plate is 515-832 which the trims section identifies it as red, 800 and 832 are apparently the same colour.
