Hi guys, had my grey recoed by a reputable firm  and have had nothing but trouble since. Just had a few mods done, small street cam, head, twins and extractors. The first month it it keep wetting up the plugs and missfiring as well as using oil. Replaced plugs twice. Put up with it hoping that it may take time to bed in. After 6 months took it back to the reco mob and they said it was getting too much fuel. They said to have the carbies fully recoed, which I did ($600 later) This weekend I went from Grafton to Gold Coast(300k) ,stuffed another new set of plugs and used 2lit of oil and on the way home I managed to make it on another set of plugs and onother 2 lits of oil. Anyone got any suggestions on what the problem might be? Yep I can read a few minds out there saying throw in an 8 or a Red  Might have to if these problems continue.

What kind of oil did you use?
If it was synthetic the rings haven't bedded in and probably glazed the bores.
Just a thought  .

G'day Mick, that could be possible as the pots that oil up are 4 & 5. Costing me a fortune in plugs and oil.

Trev and Russo, yep, put the theory of guide seals to them but they said Not Likely  . Started out using Penrite 20/50 but they and everyone else said use good old CASTROL 30. have changed the oil twice, once to flush the other shit out after a good run and again after more driving. Have since done about 2 thousand klm's but still have the problem.

2lt of oil in 300km? Something definately wrong there.

Reputable mob or not, I'd be taking it back and leaving it there 'till it's fixed.

Yep, thats what I'll be doing tomorrow, give them a ring and take it back. They gave 12mths warranty which was upin January but I have had it back to them twice since then. It has only done around 5thousand k's since putting it in. Even the mechanic that installed it had to put a second set of plugs in it. He thought it must have been faulty plugs, but obviously not. Will let you all know what happens after I've spoken to them. Just hope they have it ready for Sawtell.Regards Graham
