That brings back a heap of memories, more so probably for Ratbox/Harry etc.

That ute ran high 9 sec. 1/4 mile with a 308 (no nitrous or anything fancy) & a 4 speed manual. Nobody could row through gear changes like Peter Priestley.
It got sold & now runs an injected SBC & Auto, same colour but has some signwriting on it now.

It was all built in the little garage in Mt.Druitt shown in the video, almost nothing was outsourced.

High 9's
Like that?
That's impressive.
That's been built pretty well!
Sounds nice

One of my favourite cars to watch run when we had ANDRA racing here in vic back in the 90's....

People used to mock 308's (still do), though over the years I've seen some 308's leave small block and big block Chevs to shame.

Lost count of how many times I had to pop my boot after a run to prove i had no nitrous, to some bloke who couldn't believe a 308 could beat his mighty 350.....

The VW's built by Stan Pobjoy were incredibly fast back then, I would not be suprised if it is one of his in the video.

I remember from one of the Yokohama shoot outs back then I had to line up against a two tone VW with a big pipe out the back in my 396 powered Impala.
I was shitting myself that it might have been a Pobjoy one but luckily not

Nope it's better keeping up with a small block with a mildly worked six. I only lost out when I ran out of revs in top gear...

nearly bought a tear to my eye a very good friend that i've know since childhood very fond memories :D you can tell we're from the same school, need to test drive yor drag car ? no worries just take it for a spin round the block 8) and check the attire and saftey boots  :)
he started with a very good rust free ute and cut the floor out from front to back and side to side  to chassis it my, type of guy
it ran very consistant times and won it's fare share of races and could of been even better if he ajusted the suspension so it didn't do wheelstands, but there was no way he would do it he'de rather loose the race than not do a wheels up launch
he's a very smart really cool guy that i don't think there is anything he couldn't do if he put his mind to it
