I thought that might get a few peoples attention.
I am just about ready for rego, budget is gone and wife will notice if I take anymore $$$ from the bank. I thought we had got the car right on Tuesday night, took it for a small run up and down the street to test it. #$&% wit who rebuilt the Hydromatic didnt put fluid in it. Stung me $2700.00 for the rebuild think it would have included fluid.
Put fluid in this morning drove about 10 metres and bent 2 and 5 push rods. We have replaced 4 and 5 about 2 months ago so we are now thinking the valves are sticking. I am after a head that I can put on it, get it regd and drive until I save more $$$ so I can get this one reconed.
Would the one you have do?

You haven't thought about trying the old diesel around the valve stems trick? Pull the rocker cover off & give the valve stems a good squirt of diesel out of an oil can over a day or two. You might be surprised at the results - or you might not
Cheers.

Hi Tim
Thanks for the advise, I took the head off and the valves where stuck and had pulled the sleeves out. I purchase a new one from Head World at Ingleburn (off ebay). Phil used what he could in valves from mine and built one for me. He said that he thinks that it had sugar or cocacola mixed with the fuel. We will fit it on the weekend and hopefully the baby will be running good.
The last thing I need some help with is the generator, the light on the dash is on and battery is not charging. A freind who is helping me with the car said that the generator that is fitted is a bosch and the regulator is a lucas, could this be right? He said that they are not compatable that is why its not working. Any advise would be great.
Thanks Chris

Barnfind,
Why don't you upgrade from the generator to an alternator (you won't regret it

) Unless you want to keep your car 100% original.

I thought that alternators were higher output

I changed to one on my sidevalve &*#@ as well as my grey and my batteries seem to be lasting longer. I see your point though, maybe if I reco the generators on both they would perform as well.
I also stripped and polished the casings on the alternators before I put them on so maybe I just wanted to add to the chrome and polished Alloy already on both engines ( I like polishing)

Absolute GOLD!
Seen mainly F#RD motors do that
Had a new generator on the EH when I got it.
All cool until a couple of Ace &*#@ night runs in the city.
Headlights, indicators, Brake lights, Stereo and stopping every 5 minutes saw the battery dead as a Tassie Tiger at every stop
Fitted an Alternator and have never looked back since.
