fitting HT/g wheels?

Gday,
Sorry if this has been covered before, but ive done a search and I cant find an answer to my problem. I bought some 14" HT/G rims (at least I think they are ) about a year ago and i'm finally getting round to completing the ute.
The wheels have the correct pcd, the problem is that they are raised around the wheel nut hole so that there isnt enough of the stud coming through the wheel.
Using the original nuts only about half of the thread makes contact?
My brake shoes and front end etc are all original, so it has me stumped as it seems as though a lot of people are running these wheels with no dramas. Do I need to install longer studs or do you guys machine the wheel nuts to fit?
Cheers
