I am trying to install a new rear cable on my HR rear and have just realised I may have deep sixed the old EK cable with the rear cable stops/clamps whatever they're called? The two retaining clamps that attach to to the body.
If anyone understands what I am on about could they possibly post a pic? I may have to fabricate something and looking at the notch on the cable I think there may be more to them them then just a bit of bent strap.
cheers Jake.
Hi Jake I have done the exact same thing with mine too, not to much help there from the forum , so how did you go ? did you fabricate some or find some? Peter
Hi Peter,
Yeah, I dunno, I thought for sure someone would have a standard handbrake setup on here.
I am still trying to chase down one - I had a phone call today from someone who might be able to help, but in the meantime I just bent up some stainless steel strap and cut a "keyhole" into it that allows me to clamp it to the original mounting points-it's a bit rough but it stopped the cable flapping around and just seems strong enough to allow it to function- the new cable doesnt quite line up right either , so the stock item may not even work.
hey jake if you get hold of one would you mind posting a close up picture so I could get some fabricated , I thought I might try and get some tiny u bolts but would rather use the real thing.
Not sure if ths was your issue, but the standard FB/EK or HR cables will not work.
I ordered one as well, just need to tell them what models.
EK wagon body with HR rear...... Cable fitted perfectly to existing body.
IT's LIKE WATCHING DRUNK MONKEYS TRYING TO HUMP A FOOTBALL.
Not sure if this helps, but these are the standard FB ones (looks like a bit of mild steel plate stuck in a vice and pounded over the end of a drift with a BFH would do the trick ):
Cheers,
Harv
