Hi all
Picked up an FB on the weekend, it has rust in so places but not in some of the usual spots. the front clip and inner guards are like brand new it has an EK number? Is this normal or has it bee replaced.
It came with a heap of rare spares rust sections that will com in very handy. Also a few spare doors and panels.
Will put this one on the road stock ( Grey + 3 speed) looks like a bust winter for me this year.
Now have 3 great motors if anyone is looking for parts.
Cheers

Time to pull the FB sedan out of the covers, as my youngest (18 next week) is keen to do her up.
Picked up some parts today (thanks Blackie) also got a few Holden 6’s a 186 and a 202 came with extractors and a Celica 5 speed.
I am told the 202 has a Yella Terra head? Its a 12 port that’s all I can see from the outside. Not to sure ya can tell without pulling the head off. It has a casting PL?
Anyway its a good starting point for the project

the blue motor is a "blue motor" so the twelve port is standard i don't know if YT did these heads i can't see why not though
oh oh looks like the wagon's pushed back a bit further

Wagon is supposed to take priority

we will see how the young fella goes.
Found this on the YT web site, might pop the head off and have a look

Iron Heads
iron cylinder head
The Holden Blue and Black cylinder 12 port style head forms a good basis for performance engine build ups however the factory version is unreliable and prone to cracking.
Yella Terra redesigned the Holden 12 port head with improved water flow and superior quality material to resist cracking in both mild and high stress applications.
The Yella Terra 12 port has a greatly improved port design over the original GM head, delivering a 35% flow increase over the stock head with significant scope for further flow improvement through individual hand porting by professional head shops.
All Yella Terra 12 port iron heads are fitted with valve seat inserts making them perfectly suited to unleaded or LP Gas fuels. The heads feature huge 1.740" intake and 1.550 exhaust valves and performance double valve springs.
There is a choice of standard 56cc combustion chamber size and a large volume 68cc 'turbo' chamber for low compression supercharged and turbo charged applications.

I think that gearbox is knackered - you shouldn't be able to see the gears

The box came disassembled, what you can see is the new air assisted synchromesh, there are a few kits on the net, might give it a go.

The price of these things its probably worth it.

and are known to break down more frequently

geez even thommo has recently put up a new pic in the archive thread back when they wouldn't have been to old with a broken down FB and an FB/EK RACV van

Got the 202 back from the mechanic yesterday came up pretty good. Turns out the YT head is an original YT casting and in real good nick.
Had the head reconditioned using the YT valves. Motor has all been done to with a nice cam and all race internals. ATM I will run an Edelbrock 500 maybe triples in the future.
I fitted roller tip rockers 1.5’s (small block Chev are the same and half the price) and YT plates & guides
Cant wait to fire it up.
Stripped the HR front (thanks Balckie) end ready for the Pat Gardener steering and then off for powder coating. (local mob does a great job)
Just have to decide if I want it in the ute or continue with the FB as planed.
Pick up the 350 for the wagon from the local machine shop today (to many bloody projects)
Cheers
