Green EK wagon. I'd be interested in aquring this car as a new addition - but a couple of things put me off
1- Buying it sight unseen as often I have checked out cars being sold online and they looked great in photos but "lordy - is that the same car?" when you see them up close
2- The car is now on its 3rd Auction - whats wrong with it? Price only?
3- The "1970's Graceland" style interior puts me off - that can be fixed with a bit of dough.
Anyone seen this car in the flesh before ? Comments?
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul
I've seen this car in the flesh a couple of times. Looks good - but i haven't gone over it with a fine tooth comb, which I would if I was buying it. I'm happy to have a look at it for you if you'd like - I live in Cairns. From memory it's got a few NASCO bits & pieces, but has also been bodgied a bit - tinted windows & (from memory) a cowskin pattern interior. The guy that owns it also has a blue & white FB wagon in similar nick, so i guess he's a bit of an enthusiast. Feel free to PM me if you would like me to have a look at it for you.
Cheers, Steve

Hi guys and Gals,
The EK you are talking about is my car! thanks for the rap steved5. Hope to meet you up this way some day. And it is true I did have a blue FB with white flash that the missus drove for a while. It was also sold just recently.
The reason for three goes on EBAY was some people "absolutely and positively loved the car", "'wanted the car", "had to have the car", "just what I always wanted" etc, etc, but never had the wherewithal, resources, moula, cash, (call it what you want). Also mum wouldn't let some make their own decisions.
History: I bought the car sight unseen on EBAY from Reddo (forum contributer). There was absolutely no rust in the car, a minor problem of pulling to the right when braking ( I fixed that Reddo if you're reading this- it was a clogged flex brake line on the LEFT front brake), and a tendency to wander over the road everywhich way. (turned out to be a broken left coil spring.) Put radials on it with lowered new springs and its back to steering with two fingers and elbow out the window!
Had the front seat refurbished to original, but had the lairy seat cover made just to upset the purists. The whole cowhide look can be easily removed.Had the windows tinted for two reasons, one to get away from the goldfish bowl look (i.e. you look like goldfish in a bowl to people driving past) and two, because it drops the temp by about 5-10 degrees. The downside was that you had to have the windows up to look cool, but to stay cool, I fitted an air con.
There's a lot more I could rave about, but next time. A guy from Brisbane flew up to look at it. I have a hoist so he got to give it a good going over, and sadly it is now on its way to Brisbane. I reckon he got about a million bucks worth of nostalgia out of it. Regards and thanks for your interest. Steve
