Varijet II, Holley 350 or Other?

Hi guys, i am in the process of gathering all the bits and peices required for the build of the blue 202 going into the EK i have recently bought for my wife.
engine will recieve a complete reconditioning (not just a ring & bearing job), will be running extractors and a mild cam (Crow Cam 35613 - Towing Cam) just to give it a little more grunt when running the air-con, other than that it will pretty much be built to standard specs.... It's going to be my wifes daily.

(The blue 202 i have picked up has a head from a black 202 on it.)

Maybie some of you guys with experience on red/blue and black 202's can tell me which carbie gives best reliability and driveablity.

I think the most common options are (I dont want to go to a twin (or triple) carb set up)

* Holley 350
* Varajet II
* &*#@ Webber

Iv'e read the varajet actually flows better than the Holley 350 and does so using less fuel, but I've also heard horror stories regarding the varajet and i am not
to keen on the &*#@ webber, i have seen these transplanted onto a variety of other engines and never seem to be spot on!

So what are your thoughts??

another quick question, does a HR diff center bolt straight onto a EK diff housing?

I am new here and incase some of you have no idea who I am, here is my Indtroductory post

Cheers guys....

Gday Steve

I cant advise you on the carbies, but with the diff,
you would be better of swapping in a complete EH or HR diff.
That way the rear brakes will match the fronts.
(I assume you will be using a HR front end with the red motor swap)

But yes, a HR center will fit a EK housing.

Cheers
Jeff

Thanks Jeff,

Yeah i will be swapping the front to HR disc, and i am aware that swapping to a HR diff is the ussual method of converting the front the HR disc, however talking to my "brake guy" (Michael at B&R Brakes - Blacktown (NSW)) he was telling me he can get the EK Rear drums to match the HR front no probs...
and since i can get a HR centre in a 3.08 ratio for nothing i thought i might take that option.....

Steve, I've read some positive reviews about the XE/XF Falcon Weber on red motors. You can get them on eBay fully rebuilt plus I think AussieSpeed make manifolds or adapter plates.

All I know is the VK commodore I had was a black 202 carbie motor and is chewed the juice like a bitch :x . It was all stock so it should have had the varajet on it.

I'd go the Webber too. The 350 Holley is too big for a 202, even a mild one.

The Varajet is just pure trouble
