Tip for fitting V8's into EK/FB's.

Put the pipes in before the engine!!! Saves time having to lift the engine back up to fit them in.

I used to wonder about rover/P76 V8 into an FB/EK does anyone know if its been done, I figured with the light weight and buildable power they might be a good fit. These days its about as retro as using a red vs the options available now but still interested if anyone had.

It would make a unique and different conversion, though to quote Mater from Cars 2:
"Well, that's one of the worst engines ever made. It's an old aluminum V8 with a Lucas electrical system and Whitworth bolts. Shoot.."

They're good for around 190BHP. They'll need engineering (at least in NZ's West Island they do  ), which means all the dramas of a "normal" V8 conversion. If you're after grunt, an SBC would be better bang for the buck, though certainly less unique.

Harv

Those things are 40 years old now, LS1 is the way to go  you can buy a kit from CRS , havent heard any reports about whether they are up (or more to the point down  ) to the usual standard of CRS gear though.

There was / is an Ek sedan with a Leyland v8 and a chop top in Vic. Was for sale several times over the last 15 or so years.

yup a slightly newer dinosaur.... back in the day there were some quick rovers and Roger Freeth ran a TWR one here in a Toyota Starlet based very modified all comers car.
