Hi All

Lately my right rear has been dragging lately so I thought it best I take it apart and put in a new wheel cylinder. Anyway, I cant get the drum off!

I have tried doing all the usual tricks I have in the past and no joy. I did some net searching and saw that I could adjust it back a little to free it. I cant see what can be adjusted.

There are the two bolts for the wheel cylinder. Two for the handbrake and thats all. I tried crack the bleeder and still couldnt push the shoes in enough to wiggle it off.

Anyone got any other tips? The far side one came off with just a tap.

there are 2 slots on the back of the drum.....get to from under the car....
they might have plastic covers on to keep the dust out
remove the covers and in side you will see a cog with teeth on
use a flat blade screw driver and and just them loose...
not sure what way....
if seized it will be hard to turn....

that backs off the shoes ......

Found out why it was so hard to take off. There is a slot inside the drum with matching profile on the brake shoe. The other side is smooth like every other drum I have seen. Which one is normal? It is even normal?

there supposed to be smooth...
they get machined smooth..
if it has a cut the same as the brakes they have been rubbing for years....
