Well, after years of keeping this under my hat I can finally let everyone see the 'Top secret project of the Blue Dog's'...
The Airborne 8 was finally uncovered at Motor Ex today to much relief of the owner and the handful of 'those-in-the-inner-circle' .
My contribution to this project was to render artworks of what it will look like when it finally was finished!
The artwork you'll see lower down was drawn in 2004 & when you compare it to the finished car it came out pretty close! :D

so now without further ado..may I present the Airborne Eight..otherwise known as 'the Scar-mobile'.. 8)
lot's of familiar faces made the debut.."Larry the Legend"

..Dave (Bootlegger) Pagano..

..c'mon boys...you're 'sposed to be looking at the CAR!

Our own Paul (Smooth Customs )Kelly ..even the imminent shoulder operation (#3) did'nt keep him from being there for the Blue Dog's day of triumph  ..

Here's the artwork..circa 2004..

Speaking of unvielings, did anyone catch Kochie (Sunrise host) and the unvieling of his Chev powered Mustang? The guy admitted he knew nothing about cars, and had to ask around as to what sort of car he should restore.

Hooley dooley , how much work has gone into that !!!!!!!!!

Paul , you are truly a genius 8) 8) 8) 8)

I gather the entire thing is hand made , apart from starting with a cab ???????

Ive been watching Bluey work on this thing for years. There were some great cars at the show but to be honest its all been done before. Then Airborne Eight comes along. Only time will tell if this becomes one of those landmark cars that will go down in history.

Truly a car built from creativity with almost zero budget.

There were photos of the pieces of cab he started with.....it looked like scrap metal.

Came up a bloody treat,though.

As Craig said.."The Blue Dog of Happiness" started with the rear of the cab & roof (punched in by a felled tree! )and a fire wall with windscreen surround (still with the glass!).
The doors, bonnet & all the rest (including chassis) was all acquired later on with the 66 other pieces of different makes and models added to the mix.
Even Gene Winfield had an advanced viewing when he was out here. 8)
Bluey had a vision way beyond what is considered the 'done thing' in the 'hot rod fraternity' and built a one off piece of art. 8)
Love it or loath it, there is only one 'Airborne 8' ..as the T-shirts he handed out to friends say on the back "Australia's most customized car", a bold statement indeed...but all things considered..I have to agree!!
I think this is Australia's version of the "Ala Cart". 8) 8)
At least I designed the sunvisor..(a thing that Blue hates me for  ..all I had to do was draw it,HE had to build it   ).

Scotty.

that's a beauty. proportions look great, each custom bit flows with the rest of the car. and then there's part of an ek seat inside. messed up with that one
awesome rod-that's my idea of a standout rod, nothing generic about the body style and choice of wheels
