Great Daily driver Cars And their Owners

Post by EKfanPaul »

I took this photo in William street, Melbourne in the city in 1986.

This lady would drive her rare colored all green 1961 EK Automatic Holden south on William Street at about 3.00 every day.
I often saw her driving through the city.
I saw her in her car in William Street in February 2010 again!.

You have to love those great daily driver Holdens and their owners!

(Apologies to the FB EK Holden Club Of Vic Members who have already seen this story from me in the newsletter. Thought I'd share it with our interstate buddies).

Pretty cool pic. I drive a 1975 HJ Holden as a daily driver. I take it to the city, the coast, cruising, uni, work, friends houses.. everywhere. Failed me i think once when the starter went on it, luckily i was 10mins from home so easy to get a tilt tray back. Other than that, never had any real drama with it. Such a great reliable car.

Only way to go. Nothing like jumping into an early holden for your drive home, you seem to forget how bad a day at work you may have had. Or makes a good a day at work even better driving home. Four years in doing daily duties and mines still going strong 8) 8)
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

This FB Light green and mid green sedan was photographed by me in 1996.
The car was parked outside a house on Epsom road, Ascot vale (Near Maribynong Road) in Melbourne.
It was in excellent condition and used to sit outside this home on this busy street right where 2 lanes merge in 1 (south bound)

Sometimes the owner would park the car 2 wheels up on the Kerb, sometimes not. I used to see it everyday for months.
One day it was no longer there and I have not seen it since.
I hope it wasn't written off on that busy road.

More useless trivia for you.

I have to agree with DR, nothing cheers you up more after a shitty day at work than coming out to the car park and getting that grin as soon as you see the old EK waiting to take you home. Can't buy that feeling. 8)

This bloke has not changed in 13 years I have been in this area. Except he put an airconditioner in a window a few years back!
