Gday everybody

I have been lurking around this site for quite a while figured it was time to join and say Hello

I have owned an FB Ute since June 96
it wasn't planned I inherited it when my brother passed away
it was is very rusty structurally

since i aquired it i have been looking for a replacement Body
externally it has NO rust but internally (shit)
in the 14years i have had it , It has hollidayed at verious peoples places
due to no time or space to work on the old girl
2 years ago the time arrived to start on it
since then i have missed out on prob about 5 by 1 or 2 days
anyways here are some pics

The bigest problem with it is whoever did the bodgy repairs
years ago did them over the rust didnt remove and replace
then covered everything with about 1/2' of body deadener

they also welded the outer subframe legs to the inner sills
cut and shut the upper skirt supports that bolt to the firewall
and welded them at the outer perimiter after they bogged the rusty
support channel in the firewall
bogged and bodyshutzed the plennumchanber drains

basicly the front half of the body and the subframe is f%*&*d
the rear isnt as bad but is rusty as well
only underneath inside the tray area is pretty good
the outside has No Visible Rust and has not bubbled or blistered
in 14 years
every bolt on panel is pretty good no visible rust ontop or underneath
even the tailgate although not very straight inside has no rust
the spare wheel tailgate is the worst and it is very easily repaired
another strange thing about this ute the drivers side
is twice as bad as the pasengers side
it still has its original sill on the pas side
front half of drivers side has been replaced ( not very well )

I will Just keep looking I feel sure i will find what I want
another odd thing about it , It must have been in a smash
the distance between the firewall and the little ridge behind the trans hump doesnot allow a CRS auto hump to fit without removing the ridge

Cheers
Wayne

Hi blacky thanks for the welcome
nobody is more supprised that username wasnt taken than i was

as for fixable I am not sure i can replace its structural integrity
I prob will if I can't find a body
I think even a cut and shut would be better structurally

if I did a cut and shut it would prob get a chop at the same time

Hi ekute62
Actually one of the rear shocks has pulled out of the rear floor at sometime
and has this huge piece of angle iron welded in for a top mount
If I got to this body before the last person it prob would not be half as bad
