Hope this fits into this category and is of interest to some people on the forum.
1st are 4 car magazine covers from 1960/61 with locally photographed FB's.

2nd are a cover and pages from a GM Dealer news, most of which is dedicated to the FB and it's launch in RSA. It describes that a few Holdens had been imported for testing under local conditions for a few years prior to production starting. Considering that out first production Holdens were the FB, that means that there must have been a few FE or FC here. I have never seen pictures of them and wonder if any still exist. Anybody with more information?




3rd is a cover from local catalog. You will note the slogan, "Built for acountry like ours" which would differ from your catalogs. On the inside pages there are constant footnotes telling you that the South African models came standard with white wall tires.(and you can see that in the picture of them coming off the factory line.)

Its always interesting to see how Holden operated outside Australia.

I would assume that sort of material would be very collectable here.

It amazes me how in all the official illustrated ads, Holden gave the cars a quite severe lowering job.

Hey Whats with the accessory reflectors on the grill? All photos of FBs in RSA have them but not the pic of Port Elizabeth?

I am not sure at what stage the RSA authorities descided that they must go on. All cars had to have SABS -South African Bureau of Standards approved reflectors on them. Obviously you Ozzies didn't know how to make reflectors!
Even on the back where reflectors were built into the red lenses a 'propper' reflector was 'plonked' on.
The early promotional ones pictured have them mounted high up, but when it came to production they moved to the lower position as you can see on the CAR mag covers. That's where they are on my FB's.
My EH and HR's have them too. All cars of that era do. Probably a quick way of telling that it's an RSA car.
