Gday Ed - good to see you're getting your hand in with some more serious customising! I noticed a few methods I used in the EK Van chop being put to use such as the rhs down the front screen pillars. Just be careful - once you start chopping stuff- its hard to stop!

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Andrew, yep, after I cut it's hat off I thought OK this is the point of no return! Since then I've been having a ball. This forum has proved to be a great resource for chopping.

A very useful resource while in the garage has been LArry O'Toole's book "the Practical Rodders Guide to Chopping Tops". Years ago I decided I wanted to chop a roof after reading the article series on the 55 Chev wagon chop in ASR, this would have been about the same time your FC coupe hit the streets, but back then tackling a job this size was too much.

so after years of thinking about doing it, planning it and regretting not chopping my own wagon.. here it begins, thanks to Mark.

and here is the latest progress...

Split the roof rails longitudinally, tacked in both sides vertical pillars.
I have split the rail across and pulled the rear window section back in alignment on one side. At this point I must have sat and stared at it for an hour just dreaming... (pics to follow as my camera batt died)

my thinking time is not charged... that's already half price!

all good, pulled the rail back last night and thought wow.

It will slow up a bit as I need to fix some rust while I have access to it.

best way is to practise on somebody else's car if it all turns to sh!t you can just give it back and say sorry i had a go and it didn't work

Your doing a great job.. and after you finisuh mine you should charge $100.00 lol

RE: door frames, Mark arranged all that, I'm just the guy doing the work. I still need to get to your place to say hello.

Screens: I sure hope they suit a widened roof, bc I'm working on that assumption, Mark has the details... otherwise looks like I will be making a fibreglass mould.

Next project? I really don’t know. I contemplated a BMW 2002 at one stage, then I thought a VW Beetle, now in the Holden mind set… On top of all that, I just like to go dirt biking and ride my push bike and tinker on my rodeo from time to time. So I guess the next project will find me.
I’m just doing my bit at the moment on Mark’s project.

I’ve been following your project tho and it’s looking great. love your ideas and attention to style.

Widened the roof rail, and lengthened it, reconstructing the base of the C pillar and fixing previous repairs.

Does anybody know if you can buy strips of the upholstery "tigers teeth" retainer?
