Hi Nick, Really enjoying watching your progress. Also love the idea of your dead sled car club. Is there anything better than seeing a car that has been left to rot in a paddock, saved and restored back to life ? If only there were more people like you around there would be alot more older cars on the road and less cars going to the crusher.

You need to come to Adelaide and check out our graveyard, if not at least look at the pics in what happening in s.a. You would be like a kid in a candy store ! Last trip Retro Richard tried to count all the fb/ek's he ran out of time with 66 !. Absolutely love this website, just as one awesome project is coming to an end (Malcolm's) there is always new and exciting projects starting like yours and Hold-on-ekky with his pano.
You won't be late with a 138!

Not in a hurry, plus it won't be mine..... Apparently it will be done exactly how SWMBO wants it

As for the VY wagon Trev, I have long term plan for the driveline to fall out once the car is worthless.. I have a new home planned for it, bet you can guess where.....
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Yep!! I've got a 186 here to be used first and red motor's don't tire easily... Anyway why mess with a good thing. I've got a roadster to do in between too.

Biiiggg update.. Been meaning to do this for a few weeks now..

Gauge panel.. cleaned and polished a few times.. its pitted but that gives it character.. in person this looks amazing..

Passenger Front Door..

Passenger Front Door.. Front Side..

Drivers Side Front Door..

Car Braced For New Sills..

Image

Hand Fabricated Inner Sill.. I did this myself. Its out of 3mm plate instead of the usual 1.6 or 2mm stuff that the sills are made of. If we do this to both sides which will probably happen.. it'll almost be like having a chassis under the car..

Image

Inner Sill Welded In.. This has been welded fully on the inside to the channels underneath the body i think in three locations.. After welding it was all rust proofed and primed.

Image

Image

Outter Sill. Still has to be chopped down a little.. welded to the inner.. few small bits on that to go. Nearly there though.

More Fun.. These All Need Repairs..

Image

Sexy Ass Shot..

Image

And The Front.. Subframe still has to come off sometime when the sills are done so i can repair that.

Image

Well thats all of it for now..

I reckon if we got the car blasted in the beginning we would have shit ourselves.. every panel had rust in it.. this really was a complete rust bucket when we first got it.. its probably gona be one of the most solid bodies you'll find by the time we're done with it 8)

Aye Craig ya bloody kodger mate ! Haha i wassn't even sure the thing was on.. had to help the missus set up a small aquarium for her little flat.. (Fish are my second hobby :P).

Nice to know you missed me though Craig :P

I'm undecided on the colour choice though.. if any of you fellas get down to the local shops have a look where they have deodorants and stuff.. find a Silver and Copper Rexona can.. i think its Rexona.. anyway.. that Copper colour is what i might be goin for..

Copper body, Copper steelies, White with Copper inserts for the Interior.. White dash with Copper on the top.. and a white carpet.

I think it'd look $*#@ cool as hell. But i'm still undecided.. i'm thinkin the blue might look too much like an original car to someone just passin by.. i'd rather the car look like a 50s or 60's or whatever show car.. but not a show car just a damn tidy daily.

I would think twice about using a white interior for a daily driver!
Theres plenty of other cars out there to pinch colors from, then you can get a paint number and match it any time you want, unless your deodorant has a paint number on it . Looking really good anyway, Trev 8)

Trev,

Yeah i know man.. I get pretty dirty at work although i try and brush off after work though before i jump in my car. If i do go the white interior route.. i'll put a mexican blanket over the seats or something.

The deodorant can is the EXACT colour i'd wana go if i go copper btw :P

Any decent paint shop should be able to match a colour by eye.
The rate you are going with the bodywork you are going to need it in a couple of weeks !
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
